Why is it called "SPAM"
The Name SPAM
There was this guy called Hormel. He invented in the late 1930's the "spicy pork and ham" packaged in a handy dandy 12-ounce can. To promote his new product he held a contest to name his product. As the reader may already have found out, the name that won was: "SPAM". Then on it goes to Monty Python. There a couple goes into a restaurant, and tries to get something other than Spam to eat. In the backgroundare a bunch of Vikings that sing the praises of Spam. Pretty soon the only thing you can hear in the skit is the word "Spam". That same idea would happen to the Internet if large scale inappropriate postings were allowed. You couldn't pick the real postings out from the Spam.
